Our shop is minutes from Walled Lake. The address on our paperwork says Commerce Township, because that's where 3011 Haggerty Road falls on the township map, but Walled Lake is the town we've always answered to. If you live here, we are your neighborhood stone shop, and you can drive over on your lunch break and look at slabs.
Walled Lake housing runs older and tighter than the subdivisions west and south of here. A lot of it started as lake cottages and got added onto over the decades. That shapes the work. Kitchens are often compact, which means a single slab frequently covers the whole job with material left over, and that leftover piece can become a matching vanity top or a windowsill instead of going in the dumpster. Older houses also tend to have walls that aren't square anymore, so we template off your actual cabinets rather than off a drawing.
On the lake side, the jobs get bigger. Rebuilt and expanded lake houses want outdoor kitchens, grill surrounds and fire pits, and those are granite jobs rather than quartz jobs, because granite holds up to Michigan sun and freeze-thaw without fading. Indoors, where nobody is setting a hot grill lid down, quartz is often the easier answer.
