Stone Countertops in Northville, MI
Northville is the town where the template earns its money. The older homes near downtown were built long before anything in a kitchen was square, and after a century of settling, walls lean, floors run downhill, and corners are anything but ninety degrees. A countertop cut off a drawing will not fit those houses. One templated off the actual fitted cabinets will.
That's the whole argument for using a fabricator who does his own measuring. We come out, build the template against your real walls, and cut to that. If a wall is out of plumb, we scribe to it instead of leaving you a gap and a bead of caulk.
Older Northville houses also tend to want a quieter finish. Heavy ogee edges and high-gloss black granite can fight period cabinetry. A simple eased or beveled edge, a honed finish, and a stone with less aggressive movement usually sit better in a house with that much character. We'll show you both and let you decide.
Out toward the newer subdivisions on the edges of town, the work looks more like Novi: larger islands, full-height backsplashes, quartz in family kitchens. We do both, and Northville sits close enough to the shop that scheduling a template and a cut in the same week is normally straightforward.
